Sundial

In 1931 a sundial was placed in the Park. The Penarth Times of 6th August 1931 reported that the Head Gardener, Rees James, had himself made the sundial "so well and truly made as to give the correct time."[1] It was shown on 1950s and 1970s Ordnance Survey maps on the broad path below the shelter and above the bandstand, and an object can be seen in that position in an aerial photograph taken in 1991.[2] An undated postcard producted by Tempest (Nottm) shows the sundial.

The sundial has been removed but its circular concrete standing is still visible at path level.
